South Africa and the BRICS: Progress, Problems, and Prospects
(Policy Brief No. 24)

South Africa and the BRICS: Progress, Problems, and ProspectsThis policy brief emanates from a policy advisory group seminar convened by CCR one month after the sixth BRICS summit in the Brazilian cities of Fortaleza and Brasília in July 2014. CCR's August 2014 seminar brought together about 30 key South African, BRICS, and other policymakers, academics, and civil society actors to assess the potential for increasing the impact of the BRICS on global politics, and to develop concrete recommendations in support of South Africa's continuing engagement with the bloc. The meeting was held in Tshwane (Pretoria), South Africa, from 30 to 31 August 2014.
