South Africa and the BRICS: Progress, Problems, and ProspectsThis policy brief emanates from a policy advisory group seminar convened by CCR one month after the sixth BRICS summit in the Brazilian cities of Fortaleza and Brasília in July 2014. CCR's August 2014 seminar brought together about 30 key South African, BRICS, and other policymakers, academics, and civil society actors to assess the potential for increasing the impact of the BRICS on global politics, and to develop concrete recommendations in support of South Africa's continuing engagement with the bloc. The meeting was held in Tshwane (Pretoria), South Africa, from 30 to 31 August 2014.

Post-Apartheid South Africa's Foreign Policy After Two Decades
(Policy Brief No. 21)

This policy brief emanates from a policy research seminar held in Cape Town from 28 to 30 July 2013 which convened about 50 leading practitioners, scholars, and civil society activists from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Caribbean, and North America to explore and enhance the potential leadership role that South Africa can play in promoting peace and security, as well as regional integration and development in Africa. It also focused on Tshwane's (Pretoria) interlocking bilateral and multilateral relationships on the continent and beyond.
