This CCR policy brief focuses on four key spheres of the Forum on China-Africa Co-operation: political relations; economic co-operation; international affairs; and social development, as well as on broader issues of Sino/African relations. The report is based on a policy advisory group meeting held in Tshwane (Pretoria) on 13 and 14 July 2009, which examined systematically how Africa's 53 states define and articulate their geo-strategic interests and policies for engaging China within FOCAC.

This CCR policy brief, released before the important Africa-Europe summit in Lisbon on 8 and 9 December 2007, assesses the interests of Europe in Africa and what political, economic and security roles Africa expects Europe to play on the continent. The report is based on a policy advisory group meeting held in Maputo, Mozambique, from 31 October - 1 November 2007, which drew on the expertise of both African and European policymakers, civil society activists and scholars.
